Web design in Laval for independent local businesses

Always Booked is a one-person web studio based in Laval that builds websites for owner-run businesses: trades, clinics, salons, studios and restaurants. A website of up to 5 pages in French and English, with online booking or quote requests, costs $1,500 once and goes live in about 3 weeks.

A Laval studio that works in both languages

Always Booked is run by one person, Fahad Rahman, a software engineer with a Computer Engineering degree from Concordia University. He works directly with every client, from the first call to launch and after. There are no account managers and no hand-offs, and every conversation can happen in English or in French.

That matters in Laval, where many businesses, from Chomedey to Sainte-Dorothée, serve customers in both languages. If your counter works in two languages, your website has to as well, and do it properly in both.

Why French comes first, even if your customers speak English

This is the rule to get right before anything else. The OQLF, Quebec's French-language office, treats a business website as a commercial publication under section 52 of the Charter of the French Language: it must exist in French, and another language version cannot be offered on better terms than the French one (OQLF letter to a Montreal retailer, March 2025). The same letter applies the rule to commercial posts on social media.

The practical rule is simple:

  1. French pages for everything you publish.
  2. English pages are welcome, with the same content and the same prices.
  3. A visible language switch, not an English home page with a French link buried in the footer.

Éducaloi notes that complaints can lead to an order to comply and, if ignored, a fine. A bilingual site built right from day one avoids the whole issue, and it also lets you show up for searches in both languages.

How Laval customers find you on Google

When someone in Vimont types "physio near me" or "plombier Laval" on their phone, Google shows a map with three businesses first, then websites. Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence.

For a Laval business, that translates into three things:

  • Your Google Business Profile does the first sort. In Whitespark's 2026 survey of 47 local search specialists, the profile's primary category, proximity to the searcher and having an address in the city searched top the list of map ranking factors.
  • Your website has to back up the profile. Same name, phone and hours, a clear page for each service, and the parts of Laval you serve written out in words.
  • Beyond Laval, the website does the work. A Laval address will rarely win the Montreal map. Specific service pages are how you get found further away.

If your profile needs work first, see my Google Business Profile service.

Who I build for in Laval

Always Booked works with independent, owner-run businesses, not chains or franchises:

Type of business What the site has to do
Plumbers, electricians, renovation, landscaping, pool care, cleaning Bring in complete quote requests with the city and the job
Dental, physio, chiro and aesthetics clinics Make booking one tap away on a phone
Salons, barbers, spas Show prices, hours and real photos
Fitness studios and gyms Class schedule, membership prices, trial
Restaurants Current menu, hours, reservations

One example close to home: Always Booked built the site for an in-ground pool maintenance company serving Laval and the North Shore. It is bilingual, 23 pages, with a multi-step quote form that emails each lead instantly, two Google Ads landing pages per language with call and form conversion tracking, a service-area map and full structured data. The site is launching now, so there are no results to report yet.

Price, timeline and what you own

Most agencies targeting Laval publish no prices. Mine is fixed:

Languages French and English, copy written for you
Timeline About 3 weeks
Your time About 2 hours in total
Payment 50% to start, 50% at launch, or 4 payments of $375
Hosting and care $150 a month, optional, month to month
Domain Registered in your name

If we part ways, you keep everything. To see how this compares with other published prices in Quebec, read my guide on what a website costs in Quebec.

Getting started

It starts with a 15-minute call about your business, your customers and your current site, with a straight answer on whether it is a fit. Then the site plan and copy in 3 days, the build with two rounds of revisions, and launch around day 21, connected to your Google profile. The full scope is on the websites page. If you also serve Terrebonne, Blainville or Saint-Eustache, my French page on the North Shore covers how I handle several towns from one site.

Questions

My customers mostly speak English. Do I still need a French site?

Yes. In Quebec, the OQLF treats a business website as a commercial publication that must exist in French. You can have English pages too, as long as the French version is at least as accessible.

Can we meet in person?

When it helps, yes. Most of the work happens by video or phone, but meeting in Laval is possible, for example for a photo session or to walk through the finished site.

Do you write the French copy, or do I need a translator?

The copy is written for you in French and English. You check the facts; you do not need to hire a translator.

Will my Google listing show me in Montreal too?

It is hard from a Laval address, because Google weighs distance. Your website can still rank further away for specific searches, one service at a time.
